Showtime At The Drive In With Galactic

Frederick Maryland 5/20/21

Galactic of New Orleans has joined the growing list of bands this month that have made it back to the stage after over a year off due to the pandemic. Debuting at the Frederick Fairgrounds Showtime At The Drive In series for their 3rd show back on the road I can tell you it didn't seem like they took over a year off. They were on fire....picking up right where they left off giving us a powerful 90 minute set that was full of New Orleans Galactic style funk, positive vibes and lots of LOVE. You know what I'm talkin about if you've seen them live.

Galactic is no stranger to Frederick having played a weather shortened set at Flying Dog two summers ago. They came back to town wasting no time sweeping us off of our dancing feet on the first song. They set the vibe and let us know just by their playing alone how much they appreciated us being there and how much they appreciated being back on that stage. The feeling was mutual as many fans I spoke to were not only stoked to be seeing Galactic again, but stoked that we're getting back to doing the things we love doing and that is seeing live music and being with friends.

Singer Angelica "Jelly" Joseph kept on positive messaging all night reminding us how much they missed us and let us know by giving us a big shout out that "live music is back y'all". She reminded us how things are different and things are gonna take a while to get back to so called normal. But that by loving each other, giving each other space, sending out positive vibes and supporting live music we're going to get back to that place we were before. What a phenomenal band and fine group of people, I feel the love every time I see them and can't wait for next time.

The Heavy Hours from Cincinnati Ohio got things started with a nice 45 minute warm up set of rock n roll. They reminded us throughout their set how much they also appreciated being back on stage and how they were as excited to see Galactic as we were.

Keep it going Showtime At the Drive In it seems you've got a hit on your hands everyone is diggin it.
